Every time I see "LoK" I think Legacy of Kain and get very excited for a second before I remember that it also stands for Legend of Korra. Which is also exciting, but not as much as a bizarre crossover with benders, vampires, and soul reavers. {X D

Chris Chibnall, the heir apparent to the Whovian tomato-target throne, has done quite a bit of work in TV. However, the quality has been, er... let's call it curate's egg. He was a major scriptwriter for the first two series of Torchwood, which were okay once they got going, but he's also worked on Camelot, a Starz-only show about King Arthur which somehow contrived to be worse than the BBC's Merlin, and an episode of Spooks: Code 9, which for fans of Section D is a show that did not happen ever you can't prove it what are those tapes you're holding in that hand near my flamethrower ha ha ha they'd better not be.

His work on Doctor Who has been similarly up and down. I absolutely loved "Dinosaurs On A Spaceship" because it felt like a Classic Who episode, unafraid of looking silly and with some really good jokes in it. However, he also made the "The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood" two-parter, which was really quite bad. All I'm saying is that Moffat at least had a few unalloyed hits under his belt before taking over the show.

Still, I wish Chibnall all the best for the future, and hopefully he won't do anything completely stupid. I mean, he'll probably do something stupid, this is Doctor Who we're talking about, it's part of the fun of the series, but hopefully the show under him won't be afraid to be entertaining and will be afraid of being portentous and doomy.

And hey, it might mean we get Caro Skinner back, so that'll be... something. =]

2017 had better well be worth the wait because that long of a dry spell is going to make fans very put-out if they don't deliver.

PPC HQ Hunger Games: Season 2

So Neshomeh and Phobos did a Hunger Games featuring their characters. July suggested I do one with mine.

That is not what I've done.

What I've done is a Hunger Games starring myself and Kaitlyn. And myself. And Kaitlyn. And myself. And...

So did you know there are more than 12 different self-insert versions of me and my wife on the PPC-related internet? :D

Before I link, though... I did this as a first-person commentary from inside the Arena. Thing is, I wrote it sight-unseen - I didn't know what the next section would bring until I'd finished the previous entry.

What I'm saying is, this is the darkest bit of fiction so far in this thread.

As written below, I'm preparing a pseudo-official season of the PPC HQ Hunger Games folowing Huinesoron's example. As this is supposed to be the following season, I will followhis example and set it up as an Holodeck simulation.

This will feature:

- 48 tribute line-up, to allow for as many Agents as we can to fit in!
- Edited events list to add more weapons, random events and PPC crazyness!
- This time, live on... Nutmeg TV, maybe? (AKA: I'll have two characters of mine do commentary from inside the arena. One possible death cause will, indeed, be a contestant attacking them only to be mowed down by submachine gun fire)
- Every contestant can provide their own comments at the end of each day. This will be done on the Board, I'll make a full readable document with everything in it afterwards.

So, according to Huinesoron's idea, every boarder who wants to join in can provide up to four contestants (a full district). If you don't have enough Agents, though, don't worry: you can team up with another Boarder, or even have your team topped up by free-to-use characters. I fully intend to throw a Flower or two in the battle if there are empty slots to be filled.

For each contestant I'll need: full name, shorter nickname to be used in the "report", gender, and a signature weapon or power. A link to an image would be appreciated if they don't have images on the Wiki page. The signature weapon/power is just for flavor in the commentary, as not all the death events mention a specific weapon and there are chances that no weapon was mentioned for the contestant beforehand.

I AM surprised at how bloodthirsty Agent Neshomeh was, blowing people up in their sleep and all. Jeez. O.o Phobos says I probably snapped, turned violent, and eventually completely lost my mind and ended up on top of a freezing mountain.

All the random deaths from dysentery, infection, and hypothermia do seem to indicate a pretty harsh environment in this arena. Blades, explosives, and poison water and food. Not nice. Probably got high ratings, though.

He's acting like some mad hermit - going off on his own, picking flowers, fending people away from his fire.
If he doesn't survive this, I'm going to scream.

It's kinda weird weather over here. It was snowing pretty hard, maybe 12 inches, but now a few days later, it's almost entirely gone now. It's crazy.

It's turning into what I expect winter to be down here, which is just above freezing in the mornings and ~10C tops in the afternoons. Or in other words, thick jacket weather.

Sure, we have to plug the car in to prevent the batteries from freezing, drivers once again forgot to put their winter tries (4-season tires are not acceptable substitutes, you schmucks-- just like 4-season shoes don't exist), the bus system has gone to heck (but that just might be my city's transit company), wind chill pushes temperatures down to the -25C range on a daily basis, exposed skin freezes in a manner of minutes, the Rideau Canal still isn't open, and my uni's campus has turned into a slip 'n slide, but it's all great here.

Sprinkle the salt and break out the shovels-- we've seen this all before.

There's snow in the mountains, but the temperatures are still pretty high for the season. It rained for a while, but this seems to have stopped, at least on the western side.

It's been kinda nice, really; getting a lot of school reading done.

On the other hand, my lab and work got canceled. I was looking forward to them, too... :<

The storm started today. We're having rain and stuff, and are expecting snow next week. Hopefully it'll catch; snow that doesn't catch is depressing.

Yesterday it was almost clear. Monday we were practically wading through snow. Around this time last week people were in short sleeves.

By next week, I anticipate barbecues and pool parties.

As it probably should in January, like it or not - the view outside my window shows a foot of snow on the sidewalk, and roadside piles as tall as I am! I'm glad I'm living in an apartment right now, since I'd hate to have to shovel all that before work...

But it's still very cold. And I ended up falling yesterday because there was black ice yesteerday.

We're expecting to hit at least two feet by Saturday night, with more likely to follow on Sunday. This of course means that all the southerners on my college campus are promptly freaking out. So, that's entertaining to watch while everything else in town is shut down, I guess.

Here in Chicago, we have a little snow, but it's actually warmer than it was last week, or even a couple days ago, so no complaints. I only wore my boots when I went out because I have awesome green suede boots, and dammit, I'm gonna wear them.

Southern Indiana reporting in with snow that's... hm, I don't know how deep it is in inches, but it went up halfway to my knees when my mom sent me out to see if we had mail. (Surprisingly, we did not.)

But I have hot chocolate, a fireplace, and a computer, so things are nice here. :)

The Sun Ring is a curious item, and unsurprisingly one well-suited to Sun teams. In sunlight, it increases the Attack and Accuracy of the holder by 2 stages, though in rain it lowers both by 1. However, Simipour isn't an exceptional fit for it; being a Water-type, its STAB is weakened by Sunny Day and it's difficult to deal with, considering its physical movepool is somewhat lacking. Try an Adamant set with Aqua Tail, Crunch, Ice Punch, and Rock Slide if you're set on using the item. But just be sure to have fun. =]

I'm writing IrregularS, a crossover between Madoka Magica and Lyrical Nanoha, that somehow managed to end up on TvTropes' Fanfic Recs list. (We can blame Desdendelle for it.)

It has moderate success (corrently clocking ten published chapters, with about 280 favorites), yet 90% of the reviews are... underwhelming, both in SPaG and actual content of the review.
Let's not drabble in the quality of the reviewers' stories. Some are good, but a lot of them basically caused me to stop checking reviewers' stries. I would want to spork them, and sporking my fans' stories feels wrong.

I can figure that Harvey, police officer, over here, probably has greater mental fortitude than some nobody teenager in Western Sydney, but I still feel like his reaction to 'Your entire existence is a lie, you can join out interdimensional organisation, or we can erase your memory, also, there are still things that we consider weird,' being a Matrix reference and what was essentially 'Oh, okay. Sure.' is a little bit odd.

Otherwise, I enjoyed it. I especially like one of the starting lines: 'Agent Richard Legard, who currently resembled a walking pile of his luggage,'

I have never read the Dresden Files, but I still found this pretty entertaining and, for your agents, a Right Start as it were. The only big thing that bothered me reading this mission was the fact that a lot of the excerpts were put in completely intact, resulting in large walls of boldface text, but I think that can be fixed in future missions. Don't be afraid to use an ellipsis in brackets to cut out parts of an excerpt you don't need - page space isn't a priority (aside from overall mission length), but keeping the reader from getting bored is. ;)

Glarnboudin already talked about this before you registred, and general consensus was that trying anything about this, no matter how horrible it is, is a Very Bad Idea. I'll also add we don't go against religion, and that would be nearly impossible to avoid with... that.

The PPC doesn't do sporkings of religious badfic (except for that one Bible fanfiction that one time) because it's basically flame bait. I assume that the same thing applies if it's trollfic.

I understand Lapis much better now. Reading this long mission took me some time, but I liked it a lot.

By putting it into parenthesis, did you intend to imply that Rayner is imagining this? Because she probably would, if she were there and listened to Nya’s tale, but last we know about Lapis is that she is elsewhere, listening to E.V.L.’s tale.

Some more errors:

“an” is only used when it’s easier to pronounce than “a”, so its “an elf”, not “a elf”, but still “a gagged elf”.

The correct word is "whoever;" the word is the subject of the verb "made", not the object.

There are some words missing: "I'll leave it in your hands ...

5) “Even if the notion of the cycle ceasing if the Avatar is killed in their Avatar State is true to canon,”
I believe you mean "even though," since it is canon that the cycle ends if the Avatar is killed while in the Avatar State. "Even if" implies that the upcoming phrase is not true, but that a contradiction would nonetheless exist were the premise true.

6) Lapis let out a squee that sounded like, “Minis!”, before catching herself.
Delete the commas.

7) While the girls began their next round, Rayner and Binary checked the Words, the former taking only a moment to side-ey the others.
Is that a misspelling, or a turn-of-phrase that I'm not familiar with?

I have a friend myself who uses a wheelchair, but not all the time, so I'm fully aware that it's a thing. But I'd like to flatter myself that even if I didn't have said friend, I would have the brainpower to figure out that if I saw someone get up from their wheelchair, then it means that they don't need it all the time, not that they don't need it at all.

People like that are just a--holes and you're absolutely right: They have no right to question you and throw accusations at you. If they're truly interested in expanding their mind they can go home and google or ask a doctor the next time they meet one.
And I'm really sorry that you have to deal with that kind of crap on top of having a medical condition.

Some people don't like thinking very much, do they? I mean, it should be obvious that there are things in between "Completely unable to walk, ever" and "Can walk as far as I like without pain", and that, at some point, a wheelchair is far more convenient, fast, and comfortable. But most people are clueless, not because they can't understand, but because they don't bother to think about it.

I don't have a physical disability, but I do have autism and recurrent depression, and I get the same crap in a different way. Every time I manage something that's difficult for me--say for example attending a social gathering without losing my words, shutting down, or bolting out of there--everybody expects me to be able to do that *all the time*. It doesn't matter if that was a good brain day and I'm going to pay for it by having to take it easy for at least 24 hours thereafter; people just assume that hey, if I did it once, I should be able to do it whenever I like.

Every time you have a good day and people see you can do something, they hold it against you.

My first thought was 'Did anyone on Board said something that sparked this?', but after we've learned that it was because of college I can agree that humans, more often than not, are d-bags. Yes, I include myself in that, but that's beside the point.

After an accident, sometimes my left ankle refuses to work. The pain usually lasts couple of hours, then subsides, but couple of months ago it was so bad I couldn't stand up from my chair. I panicked. For the rest of the day, I had to use a makeshift cane to move around. This usually doesn't prevent me from doing activities (I used to train capoeira; it was fun, but right now it's out of the question), but sometimes it does. This, and the fact that I look like the Fat Bastard from Austin Powers, made people think that it's okay to tell me to exercise more and more, and that I'm lazy and ambition-less... Even if I know all of that, and it doesn't come easy for me, it doesn't matter because apparently I'm not even trying to do anything about myself. So yeah, I kinda get what you're feeling, Ix.

Hit list is a great item for physical sweepers, basically being Moxie in held-item form. However, in Little Cup you have to have a great item to beat out the omnipresent Eviolite, and on Skorupi, Hit List ain't it. Try an Adamant set maximizing Attack and Speed with Poison Jab, X-Scissor, Taunt, and Crunch. You'll have problems with Flying-types, but you might still be able to get somewhere. Have fun! =]

And that includes hurting their feelings without even realizing you're doing it. Everyone has feelings and if you harm them even without knowing it, they WILL be bitter with you over it no matter what you say.

And on the flipside, if your friends are doing something wrong and they haven't realized it, don't hesitate to tell them. It could save you and everyone else a lot of embarrassment later.

I know, I know, I have permission and I have agents, but I've never written a mission.

What I didn't know at first was that that's a perfectly legit thing to do. I write nonfiction. I write essays; I summarize research. I like the PPC and I've worked on the wiki, and I read pretty much every new mission.

But it really was silly of me to think that I HAD to write missions if I wanted to be in the PPC community. If I prefer to write about facts and ideas instead of making up stories, there's nothing wrong with that, and I'm not lazy for doing it.

Probably something along the lines of "you're better than you think you are."

The most important one would be "Don't overcomplicate things"... another one would be, "GET THE BLOODY HINT SOMETIMES!"

I wish I hadn't taken my sweet time in deciding to introduce myself. Because yes, this is the most amazing, most welcoming and warmest community I've ever been to! You guys are some of the best friend I have ever had and I wish had decided to be here sooner, so that I could have spent even more of this absolutely amazing time with some of you.
