I knew I was going to come across something like this eventually when I started frequenting Weeping Cock.

However, this particular... thing... is difficult to describe.

A quote or two: "OOOOOOOOOOH GOD OOOOOOOOOOOOOH BRIAN,F*CK ME IN THE ASS AND PLAY WITH ME CLIT WHILE I DELIVER OUR LOVE CHILD"

"Brian had a septum piercing and Chelsea got one too, because she felt like the horny little slave f*ck wife cow to the masculant big dicked bull that Brian was,she wanted her cute sexy adorableness to get dominated by her big dicked bull"

    Yes. Really.

The full thing is here: http://carbonidiot.livejournal.com/53580.html. It was apparently originally posted on a Myspace journal, but it's been copypasted here. Scroll past the screenshot, if you dare. *grins*

(The f word isn't censored in fic; I stuck the *'s in so you could get the idea, despite the message board's censoring.)

Not that I don't share your horror at the awful writing, but I'm not sure it's strictly relevant to us here. As someone pointed out, people are allowed to do what they like in their own universes, whether we like it or not. I, for one, would prefer to exist in blissful ignorance of anything like this unless it's fanfic-related and therefore defaming something I know and love. {= P

... If anything, that might be MORE masochistic, but still. In future, a note of O/T at least should be included in the title. That way there's no confusion about why we've just subjected ourselves to the squick.

~Neshomeh, going to spork the horrible prose out of her eyes.

I hadn't actually meant it as PPC material -- it was me who pointed out that people can do what they like in their own universes -- but decided it was similar enough to the general purpose of the PPC not to need an OT tag. I'll remember tht in the future.

This was probably not the best thing for someone with an overactive imagination to read, but I got through it. Wow, that's horrible. The stuff in that is really sexist. It's original (to a certain extent), right? Otherwise, it will be a little traumatizing for agents.

      • To the extent of my knowledge, it's entirely original. by Anity on 2009-09-25 22:14:00 UTC Link to this

As for agents -- I'm not really sure this is a candidate for PPCing. I mean, it is original, and I suppose people can do whatever they want in their own universes, no matter how horrifying it is to the rest of us. Otherwise, I truly pity anyone who's sent into this one.

... it's allowed, as in, well, no-one can stop you, and MSTs are fun and funny no matter whether the subject matter is fanfic or original.

However, the PPC is specifically for dealing with fanfic. So while I'd say yes, you can MST original fiction, I would say that you would need to do so as yourself or using some characters you'd made up for the purpose or whatever, rather than PPC agents, and that you probably shouldn't do it under the PPC banner, as it were.

          • Not that I want to MST this one. I was just wondering. (nm) by Cinnia Aine on 2009-09-26 06:25:00 UTC Link to this
  • All hands on deck - the List of PPC Fiction is on the wiki! by Araeph on 2009-09-27 04:41:00 UTC Link to this

Hi, everyone! It's been a while, hasn't it?

As some of you may know, I am (or have been) in charge of updating the most complete list of PPC missions to date. This list was on the PPC livejournal here. I still intend to update it as often as I can; however, since the PPC has expanded and new missions are coming in thick and fast, I no longer have the time to spend on updating every chapter count and new series.

With that in mind, I have moved the Complete List of PPC Fiction to the PPC wiki.

The index and update tips can be found here:

    http://ppc.wikia.com/wiki/The_Complete_List_of_PPC_Fiction

Note: If any of you have spin-offs or missions that appeared after the "last update date" at the bottom of the page, don't hesitate to update the List! Those stories aren't linked there yet. I hope that this can help get our archiving up to speed. Hopefully, the "complete" list will really be complete!

There may also be dead links on that page; if you spot one, please feel free to fix it.

Thanks so much for your help!

    ~Araeph

    • Woot! by Neshomeh on 2009-09-27 05:57:00 UTC Link to this

      *has already updated her stuff*

I've been wondering about the list of RCs, though. I'm not sure it makes sense to open that up to everyone to edit, since someone needs to have a handle on RCs that are already taken, but just people who are top-level admins on the Wiki, perhaps?

I'm wondering because I'd like to transfer RC #1110 to Agents Derik and Earwig and haven't been sure you're around to ask. {= )

Also, are "dead" RCs like sports numbers that get retired when their occupants retire?

  • Important: Going with the whole 'progress' boat... by JulyFlame on 2009-09-28 06:49:00 UTC Link to this

We have a lack of a link to the constitution right now, and the PPC page on Cam's site has a defunct link to the board.

Beyond that, a lot of geocities sites seem to be kinda dead and if not dead will soon be dead, and Oddlots has disappeared into the ether.

Obviously this is not a job a July intends to volunteer to fix singlehandly since that's not possible, so I'm pointing this out to everyone else, since more people results in more fantastic explosions.

    Thoughts? Solutions? Suspensions? Colloids? *puns*

    • Re: Important: Going with the whole 'progress' boat... by Aztec on 2009-10-01 07:40:00 UTC Link to this

Wish I could be useful but all I have saved are most of the original Jay and Acacia missions, which all seem ‘locatable’. With a lot of the dead links it took me ages to find a lot of the up and running stuff, and that happened because an active agent managed to link me to them! (Thanks Lily Winterwood!)

    • I don't have anything saved, by Anity on 2009-09-29 07:11:00 UTC Link to this

and considering my minimal ability with web pages, I'm probably not the best person to be involved with mirror sites, but in case anyone's wondering, geocities is going down entirely on October 26.

…if we made offline copies as well, just in case more host sites go fwoomp. (Also, I mean to give one of my sisters a binder full of PPC missions and goodfic for Christmas.)

    • A partial solution by Huinesoron on 2009-09-28 18:33:00 UTC Link to this

I started putting the Oddlots site (or rather, the PPC section of it) onto one of my sites, here. A lot of the links are still dead (I haven't restored much beyond the Buffyverse missions and chargelist), but the Constitution is up there. So it'd work for now, until I can get internet access back long enough to finish the job.

    • Constitution and Geocities by Neshomeh on 2009-09-28 16:58:00 UTC Link to this

I know someone has a copy of the constitution we can put somewhere (the Wiki?), and I also know someone was undertaking to save some of the Geocities sites.

I don't remember who either of these people are, because my memory is full of holes. Like cheese. I like cheese...

But anyway, I will volunteer to save the JAAKSONS, the Handbook, and SIELU to start with. I'd be happy to host the Handbook and at least the FicPsych bit of the JAAKSONS, too. I'm a little leery of putting a bunch of other people's stuff where they can't get to it, but if we decide we want to do that... *shrug*

Actually. What if we started up a website just for mirroring this stuff? I happen to like Tripod better than Freewebs for the most part, and they do offer a lot of storage. I haven't even begun filling my StarShadow Hall space (which includes my PPC stuff), and I've been using it for years.

This is just for starters. I've got plenty of links in my PPC bookmarks that are on Geocities that need saving, too. I can provide a list when I'm back on the computer that actually has those bookmarks on it.

      ~Neshomeh

      • Aforementioned list. by Neshomeh on 2009-09-29 16:56:00 UTC Link to this

The Department of Cool and Unusual Punishment (Agents Twiggy, Scorpia, Brittany)

The Department of Improbabilities (Alec Troven)

        Response Center #44 (Artemis)

Response Center #444 (Gundamkiwi and Wayne)

And that's it for my links. I think I can probably get to them, but it doesn't hurt to have multiple copies, so please take any that catch your fancy.

And, incidentally, you don't have to be a genius at HTML to help out. All you have to do is go to the page, right-click, select Frame (because it's Geocities), and then View Frame Source. Then just copy & paste everything from the opening HTML tag to the closing HTML tag into a Notepad file. Rinse and repeat for everything linked from the landing page. And don't forget to save any images.

Also, really, who would be interested in helping out with a website for rescued PPC stuff? Something more than one person would be able to access and edit?

        ~Neshomeh

        • Hm... by JulyFlame on 2009-09-29 17:16:00 UTC Link to this

We could stick them on the wiki and just lock them to editing if it wasn't minded.

          • Eh. by Neshomeh on 2009-09-29 18:07:00 UTC Link to this

That would be okay for just text, but some sites are more than that. The Wiki doesn't allow for the same flexibility of formatting as a regular website. I'd prefer to preserve as much of the originals as possible, including their looks. Maybe that's just me, though.
